Fire.
Wood.
Identity.
MADERA Kitchen and Bar needed a brand and digital presence as honest and elemental as their food. Built on the symbolism of wood — the foundation of fire, food, and life — every design decision had to carry that weight.

A restaurant opening with no brand, no identity, no web.
MADERA Kitchen and Bar was preparing to open in Williamsburg, Virginia with a bold concept — wood-fired Argentine-Mediterranean cuisine — but no visual identity to match it.
They needed a complete brand system built from zero: logo, typography, color palette, and a website that could attract diners, staff, and press before the doors even opened.
The ask: create something that felt as honest and elemental as the food itself.
Rooted in meaning. Built for longevity.
The name Madera — Spanish for wood — gave us everything. Wood as the origin of fire, food, and gathering. We built the entire visual identity around that symbolism: raw, strong, warm, and enduring.
The logo was designed to feel timeless — neither trendy nor generic — with a custom wordmark that could live on signage, menus, digital, and apparel equally well.
The website was architected for conversion: a clear path from discovery to reservations, with a full menu, careers section, and location all in one seamless scroll.
What was built.
Custom wordmark designed for longevity — primary, secondary, and monogram versions for all brand touchpoints.
Complete visual system: typography, color palette, iconography, and usage guidelines built around the wood and fire concept.
Custom Flatsome build with full-screen hero, smooth scroll navigation, and sections for about, menu, careers, and location.
Full digital menu structured across 11 categories — from Small Plates to Desserts — with editorial typography and hierarchy.
CF7-powered application system with position selector and resume upload — fully integrated into the site’s design language.
Custom-styled Google Maps embed with directions CTA — optimized for mobile to drive foot traffic from first visit.
Fully responsive across all breakpoints. Menus, carousels, and navigation designed touch-first for the restaurant context.
Instagram and Facebook linked throughout. Footer and header social handles connected for ongoing community growth.
How we work.
Name, concept, and territory analysis. Understanding the wood-fire narrative and the Virginia dining market before any design.
Custom wordmark explorations, typography selection, and color system — client-approved before web development begins.
Figma wireframes to custom WordPress/Flatsome build. Every section designed to serve the restaurant’s conversion goals.
QA across devices, SEO baseline, social integration, and full client handoff with documentation for easy updates.
Studio Altuè understood the soul of MADERA from day one. The brand they built doesn’t just look good — it feels like us.
